Ice candles

Today we made ice candles which is a technically just a candle with holes. Yesterday we melted the old candles then we spread oil around a milk carton and put a little candles and poured in the melted wax and let it cool overnight. This morning we ripped the cardboard box to find water running out of the holes here are some photos.

Google Coloring book

Today for Cybersmart  we were learning about the summer learning journey so we did Art Coloring Book where you choose a piece of art on the website and colour it in. my piece of art was originally painted by Elaine de kooning. My version had is a bit more colorful than the original. It was very fun colouring the picture but it was a hard to get every individual leaf on the pot plant. This is how mine turned out.

Dear Tracey

I am writing to you to say a big thank you for being truly awesome on our year 5 and 6 campto rotorua. The past week has been an absolute blast because of you.

I really enjoyed riding the gondola even though I was petrified when it stopped. My favorite activity must have been the giant flying fox. My biggest achievement is taking that one step more on the high ropes all because you helped me look at you and not the ground.

Most of us will agree that you made our camp a lot more fun. Thank you so much again for being completely and truly amazing.

Ngā mihi

October reflection

 This is my October reflection.

how to light a fire without matches

This week for reading we had to make a layout about how to do something that could help you in the wild to survive. Joan and I made a GIF with Canva about how to make a fire without matches because I thought that it would be very help full in the wild.

Parihaka

Parihaka is a remembrance celebration about a maori village in the north island between Mount Taranaki and the tasmanian sea. So we had to look for hidden cards around the class and write down the answers.

Animals should not be kept in zoos

Do you think it is fair to keep animals in zoos? I strongly believe that wild animals should not be kept in zoos because it is not natural for them ,I say it's horrid to take babies away from their families and put them in a cage.

Firstly They are stolen from their family and their natural instincts are taken away from them. Visitors also feed them junk food which is unhealthy and can lead to heart problems and diabetes.

they are taken from their natural homes they get depressed and have mental health problems and can even die. Did you know that since 2012 there have been over 100 juvenile elephants illegally imported to china. So in conclusion I strongly agree that animals should not be kept in zoos.
